  • General

    What is Duck Republik?
    Duck Republik is a revolutionary student hotel with modern smart facilities where students can meet other students all over the world experience student life in full – study, work, eat, play, love and sleep.

    What is the address of Duck Republik Hotel?
    Lauvas iela 1, Riga, LV-1003, Latvia

    Can I make the booking from abroad?
    Yes, of course. Thanks to online booking system choose any room you like from the website and follow the instructions. Card payments are accepted.

    Can I receive mail and packages?
    Sure you can! Don’t forget to write full address in the address box. You can collect your package from the reception desk.

    Do I have to pay a brokers fee?
    No. no. no.

    How does the move-in process look like?
    Come to hotel. Receive the key from room you booked. Enjoy.
    You can check in any time after 15:00.
    *20 EUR fee will apply for late check-in after 23:00.

    How do I pay for my room?
    We accept bank transfers for monthly payments. On the first day of every month we’ll send an invoice to your email address. It needs to be paid within 5 days.

    When to check-in or check-out?
    Check-in anytime after 15:00.
    Check-out time is until 12:00 (PM).

    Is it possible to check in before 2 pm?
    You can request an early check-in shortly before your arrival. Providing it depends upon availability and may be additionally charged.

    Is it allowed to smoke?
    No. It is strictly forbidden to smoke inside the building. The fine is 100 €. We hope that’s fine.

    What do I do if something is wrong in my room?
    Inform our staff about any issues.

    Can I have my own fridge in the room?
    There already is one.

    Do you have a hairdryer?
    No, but you are allowed to bring your own.

    What about parking?
    We do provide parking for an extra fee (30 EUR/month).

    What is Wi-Fi network and password?

    WiFi Network: Duck Republik

    Is there public transport nearby?
    Yes, there are public transport bus stops nearby. Ride to the city center or other districts easily.

    Can I book a room if I am not a student?
    Yes, but it depends upon availability.

    Can I pay in cash?
    No. At the moment only wire transfer payment method is available or you can pay cash in any post office in Latvia and they will transfer the money via bank.

    What payment types do you accept?
    At the moment only wire transfer payment method is available.

    Are pets allowed?
    No. Sorry.

    Can I stay If I am under 18?
    Nope, sorry.

    Do you provide laundry service in the hotel?
    Yes, we do have a professional laundry room with washing machines and dryers. It costs 4 € for wash/dry. It is the only thing you’ll have to pay extra.

  • Rooms and common spaces

    Do all rooms have a private bathroom?
    Yes, each and every room has a private bathroom inside.

    Do I have to clean my room?
    Yes and no. We clean your room bi-weekly, but you’ll probably have to participate a little bit yourself also.

    What common rooms can I use?
    You can use all the common rooms and areas available in the Duck Republik. These include gym, yoga room, bar, study and chill area, Sony Play Station corner and laundry.

    Do you provide bed linen and towels?
    Yes, we can. Please contact the support team for more information.

    What room types you have?
    Single room, Studio, Bed in a twin room, Bed in a twin studio, Disabled access room.

    Can I change my room during my stay?
    Why not. But it depends upon availability. 50 EUR(+VAT) service fee.

    Can I bring my own furniture in the room?
    The room is equipped with necessary furniture. Please talk to our staff before adding anything.

    Is the kitchen equipped with kitchen utensils?
    Shared kitchens are equipped with a couple of pans and pots, but not cutlery. For hygienic reasons.

    Studio kitchens do not include any additional tools.

    By how many people are the kitchens shared with?
    There are two kitchens in the 1st floor and two on the 3rd floor. There should be always enough space for everyone.

    What happens if I lose my key?
    Acquire a new key from reception. It costs 40 € and will be added to your monthly invoice.

  • Payments / bookings

    Can I make the booking from abroad?
    Yes, of course. Thanks to online booking system choose any room you like from the website and follow the instructions. Card payments are accepted.

    How do I know that my booking is confirmed?
    The booking is confirmed once the first payment is received. You will receive confirmation.

    How to cancel my stay once the booking is paid?
    You can always cancel your booking by letting us know. None of pre-payments would be refunded.

    Can I modify my reservation dates?

    Yes, adjustments are possible within mentioned time frames:
    Autumn semester is from 01.09. till 31.01.
    Spring semester from 01.02. till 30.06.- 25.08.

    What to do if I get an error during my booking process?
    If something goes wrong contact us at support@duckrepublik.eu and we will help you as soon as possible.

    Do I have to pay the deposit and will I get my deposit back?

    Upon ending the Agreement, the security deposit minus (-) the cleaning fee (40 EUR/person+VAT) should be refunded by the Renter to the Tenant (if there are no debt payments or additional damages in the Room caused by the Tenant) within 30 days from the Agreement end date. Security deposits do not cover monthly rents.

  • Long term guests

    Can I choose different move-in and move-out dates?

    Yes you can choose different move-in or move-out dates if your agreement meets minimum requested stay terms.
    Adjustments are possible upon request.

    Can I move in before my booked date?
    No, but adjustments are possible upon request and  depending on availability. Additional charge  might apply.

    What is included in my monthly rent?
    The monthly rent includes utilities as heating, water and electricity. It also includes WiFi and Bi-weekly room cleaning.

    How can I pay?
    On the first day of every month we’ll send an invoice to your email address. It should be paid within 5 working days by bank transfer to our ban account with invoice number from invoice.

    When do I have to make the payment?
    Every payment should be done within 5 days from the date the payment invoice was received.

    What is the minimum lease period?
    The minimum lease period is 5 full months. We can consider different requests upon availability.

    Can I choose my roommate?
    If you have a friend you would like to share the same room with, you can surely do that! If you come on your own to a twin room or twin studio apartament, we will select a same sex roommate ourself.

    Can I bring guests overnight?

    Yes.
    The fee for over-night stay is:
    5 EUR for first night;10 EUR for second night; 20 EUR for every consecutive night.
    Unregistered night visitors can result in a 50 EUR extra rent charge for the occupant.

    Do I get to know my roommate before the move in?
    According to personal information security laws we cannot share your roommate’s information. You will meet you roommate once you both move-in.

    Is it possible to see the room before I book it?
     Just contact us at support@duckrepublik.eu or call +371 22 324 579 in order to set viewing.

    What is the cancellation policy?
    It is possible to terminate the lease agreement by giving a written notice. However, the security deposit and pre-payments are not refunded in such case.

    What are the rules in the common kitchens?
    It’s easy – everyone cleans up after themselves and provided kitchen utensils never leave the kitchen.

    Is there a waiting list if the room I want is booked out?
    Yes, you can always sign up for a waiting list. Contact us at support@duckrepublik.eu

    What if I cannot find my school in the list when I book it?
    That is not a big deal. We accept tenants from universities all over the world.

    Why I have to pay the deposit?
    A security deposit is a sum of money that a tenant pays a landlord before moving into a rental property. It is refunded back to the tenant after the lease term end date if there are no claims against the tenant. Also 40 EUR + VAT is charged in the end of agreement for deep cleaning of the room.

  • Short stay

    Can I book a room only for a few days or weeks?
    It could be possible depending upon availability. Please contact our staff to find out at support@duckrepublik.eu

    What is included in my rate?
    Short stay rate includes utilities and internet. No breakfast included.

    What is the cancellation policy?
    You can always cancel your booking by letting us know. None of pre-payments would be refunded.
