What is Duck Republik?
Duck Republic is more than just a student hotel. It’s a friendly community equipped with all the essential amenities to simplify your daily tasks, leaving you with more time to fully immerse yourself in student life. Whether you’re studying, working, eating, playing, socializing or simply catching some much-needed sleep, our student-oriented environment is the perfect place to connect with other students from all around the world and experience the vibrant student lifestyle.

Can I make the booking from abroad?
Yes, of course. Since you’re already on our website, simply head to the “rooms” section on the website and choose the room you want to book. Follow the instructions to complete your booking.

Can I receive mail and packages?
Sure you can! Don’t forget to write the full address in the address box, including your room number. You can collect your packages from the designated area in the hotel.

Do I have to pay a brokers fee?
What is that? Absolutely not!!

What does the move-in process look like?
Once you’ve arrived at the hotel, we’ll do a mini tour and onboarding for your comfort. The process takes no longer than 5-10 minutes.
You can check in any time after 15:00.
*20 EUR fee will be applied for late check-in after 23:00. -
How do I pay for my room?
On the first day of every month we’ll send a pre-payment invoice for the month. Payment is always due within 5 days of receiving the invoice.
To make payment, you can ether do a bank transfer or to avoid bank fees and commissions, you can head down to the nearest branch of Latvijas Pasts make your payment there.

When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in anytime after 15:00.
Check-out time is until 12:00 (noon). -
How safe is Duck Republik?
At Duck Republik, we prioritize your safety above all else. With round-the-clock on-staff security and video surveillance on the premises, you can have peace of mind knowing that you’re always safe and secure while staying with us.

Is it possible to check in before 2 pm?
You can request an early check-in shortly before your arrival. Please send us an email with your request 1-2 days prior to your arrival to see if we can accommodate.

Is it allowed to smoke?
No. It is strictly forbidden to smoke inside the building. The fine is 100 €.

What do I do if something is wrong with my room?
Write us and email to support@duckrepublik.eu and inform us of all the issues. Our maintenance team will handle it all ASAP.

Can I have my own fridge in the room?
No need. The rooms already come with a fridge 🙂

Do you have a hairdryer?
No, but you are allowed to bring your own.

What about parking?
We do provide parking for an extra fee (30 EUR/month).

Is there public transport nearby?
Yes, there are public transport (buses, trams, trolleys, trains) stops within a short minute walk. Ride to the city center or other districts with ease.

Can I book a room if I am not a student?
Yes, of course. Please reach out to us at support@duckrepublik.eu so we can advise on availability.

Can I pay in cash?
No. At the moment only wire transfer payment methods are available. You can pay cash at any post office in Latvia and they will transfer the money to us via bank.

Can I stay If I am under 18?
Nope, sorry.

Do you provide laundry service in the hotel?
Yes, of course. We have the laundry room in the hotel and all you have to do is make a booking.
Rooms and common spaces

Do all rooms have a private bathroom?
Yes, each room has a private bathroom inside.

Do I have to clean my room?
Yes, of course. While our housekeeping team is there to support you and provide you with the necessary tools, we certainly hope all of our guests can respect and take care of the property equally starting with their rooms.

What common rooms can I use?
You can use all the common areas available in the Duck Republik. These include the gym, yoga room, bar, study and chill area, Sony Play Station corner and laundry.

Do you provide bed linen and towels?
We can, if necessary. Please contact the support team for more information.

What room types do you have?
Single room, Studio, Bed in a twin room, Bed in a twin studio, Disabled access room, Single Rooms with shared bathroom.

Can I change my room during my stay?
Why not? All depending on the availability and a one time payment of 50 Eur.

Can I bring my own furniture in the room?
The room is equipped with all the necessary furniture. However, please write to support@duckrepublik.eu if you wish to add other pieces to your room.

Is the kitchen equipped with kitchen utensils?
Shared kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, basic utensils, and plates.
However, for various hygienic reasons, utensils(forks, spoons, cups, glasses, knives) are not offered.
In the studio rooms, basic kitchen sets are available for purchase. Please contact support@duckrepublik.eu

What happens if I lose my key?
You can acquire a new key from reception. The replacement costs 40 € and will be added to your monthly invoice.
Payments / bookings

Can I make the booking from abroad?
Yes, of course. Select a room and follow the instructions to make the booking. 99% of our bookings come from abroad.

How do I know that my booking is confirmed?
The booking is confirmed ONLY once the initial payment has been received and you have your lease agreement provided.

How to cancel my stay once the booking is paid?
You can always cancel your booking by letting us know. However it’s important to know that bookings are non-refundable.

Can I modify my reservation dates?
Yes, of course ,adjustments are possible before or after the semester start/end date but pricing is different and you should get in touch with support@duckrepublik.eu to find out about availability.

Contract start dates are as follows?
Autumn semester is from 01.09. till 31.01.
Spring semester from 01.02. till 30.06 -
What to do if I get an error during my booking process?
If something goes wrong contact us at support@duckrepublik.eu and we will help you as soon as possible.

Do I have to pay the deposit and will I get my deposit back?
Upon ending the Agreement, the security deposit minus (-) the cleaning fee (40 EUR/person+VAT) will be refunded to you (if there are no debt payments or additional damages in the Room within 30 days from the Agreement end date). Security deposits do not cover monthly rents.
Long term guests

Can I choose different move-in and move-out dates?
Yes, of course,adjustments are possible before or after the semester start/end date but pricing is different and you should get in touch with support@duckrepublik.eu to find out about availability.

Can I move in before my booked date?
No, but adjustments are possible upon request and depending on availability. Additional charges might apply.

What is included in my monthly rent?
The monthly rent includes all utilities.

How can I pay?

Every payment should be done within 5 days from the date the payment invoice was received.

What is the minimum lease period?
For short term, there are no limits.
For Long Term, the minimum lease period is 5 full months. We can consider different requests upon availability.

Can I choose my roommate?
If you have a friend you would like to share the same room with, you can surely do that. Please send a request to Duck Republik’s email so we can accommodate your request.

Can I bring guests overnight?
Yes. Provided that your roomate agrees, we are all for it. However, please know that additional fees will apply.

Do I get to know my roommate before the move in?
According to personal information security laws we cannot share your roommate’s information. You will meet you roommate once you both move-in.

Is it possible to see the room before I book it?
Just contact us at support@duckrepublik.eu or call +371 22 324 579 in order to set viewing.

What is the cancellation policy?
It is possible to terminate the lease agreement by giving a written notice. However, the security deposit and pre-payments are not refunded in such case.

What are the rules in the common kitchens?
It’s easy – everyone cleans up after themselves and provided kitchen utensils never leave the kitchen.

Is there a waiting list if the room I want is booked out?
Yes, you can always sign up for a waiting list. Contact us at support@duckrepublik.eu

What if I cannot find my school in the list when I book it?
That is not a big deal. We accept tenants from universities all over the world.

Why do I have to pay the deposit?
A security deposit is a sum of money that a tenant pays a landlord before moving into a rental property. It is refunded back to the tenant after the lease term end date if there are no claims against the tenant. Also 40 EUR + VAT is charged at the end of agreement for deep cleaning of the room.

Can I book a room only for a few days or weeks?

Short stay rate includes utilities and internet. No breakfast included.

Safety and Security

How safe and secure is Duck Republik?
Duck Republik is very safe. Personnel is working 24/7 in the building. Our night guards start their day from 12:00 unti 08:00 in the morning.
Our administrative office is opened daily from 08:00 to 5:00
Our reception desk is opened daily from 08:00 to 12:00am
Our building is well secured with locked doors and restricted access. We have security surveillance covering all areas of the hotel, both internal and external.

Are there security cameras in public areas such as the lobby, parking lot, and elevators?
Yes, there are security cameras installed in public areas such as the lobby, parking lot, gym, laundry room, kitchens, etc… to monitor the activity and ensure the safety of all of our tenants.

How are guests authenticated when accessing guest rooms, elevators, and other secure areas?
The hotel uses different methods for guest authentication such as key card access or reporting to ensure the security of our tenant’s rooms and other secure areas.

Does the hotel have a fire alarm and sprinkler system in place, and are there regular fire drills conducted?
Yes, the hotel has a fire alarm and sprinkler system in place, and regular fire drills are conducted to ensure the safety of guests in case of a fire. All of personale goes through a thorough training program and has the knowledge on how to ack in time of emergency. Additionally, we take our all safety matters very seriously and weekly system maintenance occurs from experts to ensure no malfunction. All of our tenants, at time of their arrival, are shown and explained their responsibilities in preparation of all emergency situations.

If a guest has a safety or security concern, they should contact the hotel’s front desk or security staff immediately. The hotel has a protocol in place to handle and resolve guest complaints regarding safety and security concerns promptly.
